30th Southeast Asian Games

Bulacan, Philippines

DroneShield was contracted to provide counterdrone protection during the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, held in the Philippines in 2019. The Games featured 530 events, bringing together 11 participating nations and approximately 9,000 athletes, along with a significant influx of spectators from around the globe.

DroneShield, working alongside the Presidential Security Group (PSG) and PHISGOC Games Safety & Security Counter-Drone Team from Safer PH Innovations (DroneShield’s Philippines partner), successfully disabled seven commercial drones during the opening ceremony.

Four of the nefarious drones simultaneously appeared along the flight path of the Presidential helicopter just minutes before its arrival, prompting the PSG to deploy DroneShield’s systems.

DroneShield’s RfPatrol was used for drone detection, while DroneNode and DroneGun Tactical systems were deployed to neutralise the threat.

DroneGun Tactical deployed at the SEA Games

With a substantial 2km range and versatility across various common radio frequency bands, the DroneGun Tactical offers a portable solution to disrupt unwanted UAS presence. This non-kinetic, silent countermeasure is ideal for protecting large-scale public events without disturbing the crowd.

DroneShield’s counterdrone measures prevented the drones from hitting the helicopter’s rotor blades, averting a potential catastrophic crash that could have endangered the life of the Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte.
