Careers with DroneShield

What We Do

DroneShield represents an exceptional opportunity for result-driven individuals to work in a new niche but exploding market. DroneShield works with high-profile customers across military, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement, and many others in over 70 countries around the world.

Solve Complex Problems with Cutting Edge Tech

DroneShield offers an opportunity to solve challenging technical problems in the fields of Electronic Warfare, AI and Machine Learning, RF sensing and Sensor Fusion.

World-Class Team

Be part of a well-funded and agile organisation. We have a flat organisational structure, and the best candidates will be both creative lateral thinkers and doers.

Continuous Professional Development

Be a lifelong learner. Be interested in keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise. Be concise and articulate in speech and writing. Make connections that others miss.

Mature, Robust Processes

Products for military and Government agency sectors require a high degree of reliability, perhaps only matched by the medical sector. Our processes from design to manufacture, Quality Assurance to field support, are designed with substantial robustness in mind. Certifications such as ISO9001 and our military clearances ensure aspects such as cyber security are well considered.

Agile

While mature and robust, we are a Defence Technology (DefTech) business – a disruptor of the traditionally slower sector, re-inventing the traditional approach to R&D and manufacturing. We are agile in the true sense of the word; building new product lines in months instead of years, and delivering end solutions from our production lines in a fraction of the time of traditional high-tech sensors and systems.

Thrive on Change

Push yourself in a well-supported team environment, with a high degree of autonomy and competitive remuneration. Inspire others in your quest for excellence. Discover solutions to hard problems. Challenge prevailing assumptions, and suggest better approaches. Focus on results over the process.

Lawrence Marychurch
Vice President, Design

At DroneShield, I lead a team of Industrial Designers and Mechanical Engineers who design new products, maintain current products and test equipment. My team works closely with manufacturing teams and maintains a portfolio of suppliers around Australia and globally. With multiple projects on the go at any one time, pushing the boundaries of technology and the latest in materials science, DroneShield is exciting and never boring.

When I joined DroneShield 4 years ago, the counter-drone industry was in its early phase and I was a new grad straight out of university. Witnessing DroneShield rapidly grow along with the industry, as the original pioneer and global leader in its space, has been the opportunity of a lifetime and the company’s success can be attributed to an outstanding team spread across three countries (Australia, US and the UK). Despite the company’s rapid growth – (having scaled to about five times the size of the team when I joined!), DroneShield has maintained its agility and ingenuity while supporting an extensive catalogue of products and systems. The team is passionate about technology and design and employees are given the freedom to innovate and expand their skills.

The passion that DroneShield employees have for their work makes it an incredible place to work and learn. I look forward to seeing where the company can go from here.

Hunter Coldham
Industrial Designer

I joined DroneShield after studying Industrial Design at RMIT in Melbourne. I had worked in various fields including Medical Manufacturing previously but was drawn to DroneShield after completing my Honours Thesis on UAV capabilities for first responders.

At DroneShield, I work in the Design Team as an Industrial Designer. My role varies across product design, development, testing, manufacturing, and sustainment. To field cutting-edge Military Grade products and support them in action is incredibly complex and takes design to a level higher than I had ever been exposed to. Even though our team in small in comparison to our competitors, being surrounded by the best talent in Australia and enabled by our unique speed of development allows us to adapt rapidly to the shifting landscape of modern warfare and security.

When I joined DroneShield in 2023, the company was undergoing massive changes in preparation to transition from a startup to a major player in the industry. In just one year, I’ve been exposed to the challenges of what it takes to scale every aspect of the business to meet customer demand. Even though the journey has been demanding, I’m proud of what the team has been able to achieve and where we stand now. With double the headcount and extended access to state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing facilities, DroneShield is ready to continue a path of excellence.

DroneShield’s success would not have been possible without the culture that it fosters. Everyone is on top of their game and dedicated to a shared mission. Here, I can learn from and work with the best people for job and take pride in what we create.
