Prison Deployment
Australia
DroneShield was commissioned to complete a one-month trial over a medium-sized prison in semi-urban Australia. The goal of the trial was to capture data on the frequency and proximity of drones to the prison. This information would then provide knowledge and experience to security authorities, giving them accurate insight into DroneShield’s counterdrone detection solutions. A stipulation was that the provided solutions could not rely on any prison infrastructure and had to be outside the outer walls of the prison.
To achieve this, DroneShield deployed a highly portable RF triangulation solution on two towers: east and west. A singular RfOne Mk2, connected to a SmartHub Module, was placed at the west tower of the prison facility. An RfOne Mk2, paired with an Echodyne EchoGuard and a SmartHub Module, occupied the eastern tower. 4G wireless modems accompanied both towers for data transfer to the Cloud ComputeNode on AWS. Keeping the equipment in place were two trailer-masts, using solar panels and rugged UPS for power.
DroneShield successfully completed the one-month trial, effectively capturing data on various types of drones and their location relative to the prison. At the conclusion of the trial DroneShield provided a field report generated from the proprietary DroneSentry-C2 software.
