Australian Federal Minister Officially Opens New Sydney HQ

Sydney, AustraliaOn 11 March 2025, the Australian Minister for Defence Industry and Capability Delivery, The Hon. Pat Conroy MP, officially opened DroneShield’s new Sydney headquarters, marking a significant milestone for the company. This is a reflection of our growth and the continued development of our world-leading counter-drone technology, which plays a crucial role in modern security and defence efforts globally.

Founded in 2014, DroneShield has come a long way from its humble beginnings in a small office with just a handful of staff. The company has continually focused on developing cutting-edge counter-drone technologies that protect people, assets, and infrastructure from the rapidly evolving threat of drone-based attacks. Today, we’re proud to employ around 250 people in Sydney, including 200 engineers, and a commitment to maintaining a predominantly Australian supply chain. This approach allows us to not only create cutting-edge technology, but also contribute to the local economy and the Australian defence industry ecosystem.

As Minister Conroy said in his official remarks during DroneShield's Office Opening, "The fact that you’re in the defence industry, the fact that you get up every day and make the world a safer place, is an even greater contribution to this country. We’ve got about 100,000 people who work in the Australian defence industry, and I’m looking at about 200 of them right here in front of me today.”

DroneShield’s technology is trusted by Tier 1 military, law enforcement, intelligence, and border security customers in over 70 countries around the world. Over 1,000 DroneShield units are currently deployed in Ukraine, where our equipment is actively saving lives in one of the world's most challenging conflict zones.

We benefit from an annual manufacturing capacity of $500 million, enabling us to continue to scale and meet the growing demand around the world for counter-drone technologies. Our success is bolstered by 30,000 Australian shareholders, many of whom are small retail investors, which speaks to the broad community support for our work. In addition to our Sydney headquarters, we have a growing presence in the United States, with an office in Virginia and a team of approximately 20 staff servicing our largest market. We have teams across Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, ensuring we remain close to our customers and at the forefront of global security challenges.

As a company that excels in AI technology, including the continuous development of our SensorFusionAI, we are committed to evolving our hardware and software systems to stay ahead of emerging drone threats. Our global footprint and advanced AI-driven solutions enable us to deliver highly adaptive and effective counter-drone capabilities to military, law enforcement, and critical infrastructure customers worldwide.

We reiterate our support for the Australian Government’s recent announcement defining an Australian business within the Commonwealth Procurement Framework. This new definition will help ensure that companies like DroneShield, which maintain substantial Australian ownership and operations, are recognised and supported in their contributions to national security.

DroneShield looks forward to continuing its growth and strengthening its role in both Australian and global defence sectors. We remain committed to advancing technologies that protect lives and uphold the principles of the rules-based international order, ensuring safety, security, and freedom for communities worldwide.

So, thank you. Here’s to many more years of brilliant innovation in this wonderful building."

We echo Minister Conroy’s remarks to our team. DroneShield's achievement is a testament to the team’s dedication and expertise, and we look forward to many more years of innovation and impact.
