Air Force Base
USAF Grand Forks, North Dakota, USA
DroneShield deployed a DroneSentry detect and defeat system at Grand Forks Air Force Base. The deployment had multiple DroneSentry units around the large-scale site, forming a 360° integrated Counter Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) platform for long-range detection, classification, tracking, and defeat.
The USAF has a substantial requirement for the protection of its bases in the U.S. and abroad. Even incidents without hostile intent can cause substantial operational disruptions. This project demonstrates how DroneShield can protect personnel and strategic assets from rogue drones and unauthorized airspace activity.
These threats can be assessed and addressed with a DroneSentry system, where early detection with detailed information can provide enough intelligence to determine the risk factor and take appropriate action. Through the DroneSentry-C2 Command and Control interface, USAF personnel can respond to detections as required, including directly engaging the DroneCannon Mk2 electronic countermeasures.
DroneCannon Mk2 disrupts RF ISM bands that drones typically operate on. When disruption is active, it covers a 90° arc on a selected frequency range. This means that the impact to other equipment – such as aviation or communications hardware – can me managed and minimised without compromising the C-UAS response.
An on-site Secure Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) hosts the DroneSentry-C2 platform, which can be updated by direct USB connection or cellular connection activated as needed. This carefully balances cybersecurity measures with maintaining the latest digital capabilities.
